BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit), is a rapid transit public transportation system serving the San Francisco Bay Area in California. BART operates 6 routes on 112 miles (180 km) of track connecting 46 stations – this includes a 3.2-mile (5.1 km) automated guideway transit line to the Oakland International Airport. A ten-mile spur line in eastern Contra Costa County will utilize the third set of rail technologies. With an average of 423,000-weekday passengers and 124.2 million annual passengers in the fiscal year 2017, BART is the fifth-busiest heavy rail rapid transit system in the U.S.
