Around 700 BCE, the first Himalayan civilizations appeared. The Tibetan Empire would dominate the region during much of the Middle Ages, preceding an era of fragmented kingdoms until the arrival of Mongols from the north. After many centuries of further division, Nepal would unite, whilst Tibet fell to China; today's situation remains similar. The video below will show every year of this process.
