The hourly salary needed to rent in London

Shelter recommends that rent should be no more than 35% of a tenant’s income. So to work out how much a hypothetical tenant would have to earn to live in each of Britain’s 2650 postcode districts we divided the average monthly rent for a postcode district by 0.35 to give us the tenant’s monthly salary. Then we divided that total by the average hours worked in a month (150) to show their hourly wage.
